Katerina moved to Canada with her parents in 1993 from Ukraine and now has her own makeup & hair services business, Katerina Rapoport Inc. She talked to us about her journey!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katerina and her parents arrived in Canada without knowing a word of English, which made it a tough journey. Her first part-time job was to flip burgers at a Harveys restaurant. After a few years, at the age of 18, she became restaurant manager, an achievement that she was very happy about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has always been creative and liked to be crafty with her hands. Shes created over 300 paintings in her lifetime. After high school, she studied graphic design at George Brown College. She graduated from the 3-year program with her diploma but did not pursue a career in the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She started working in the financial industry for CitiBank while she was in college and worked there from 1999 to 2006. Although she liked her job and especially her pay, it did not fulfill her creative side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katerina also did some modeling in her early twenties which she really liked. She participated in editorial\/fashion style shoots and bridal shows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her last corporate job was at Toronto Star as a digital property manager of their online products. She worked there for 3 years while also exploring her interest in makeup art. She took a course and started to work part-time as a bridal makeup artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katerina followed her big passion for makeup artistry and decided to register her small company. That same year, Toronto Star laid off thousands of employees and she lost that job. She took it as an opportunity to focus on her business. She never looked back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
