\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Featured in this week\u2019s\u00a0Spotlight is MAX Agency talent Ellen N.\u00a0 Ellen has been a part of the film industry for most of her life through the film centre, as a fundraiser and more recently as an actress.\u00a0 I asked Ellen how she got started in the business,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only contact I\u2019ve really had with the business was through the film centre.\u00a0 I was their main fundraising person and the construction manager.\u00a0 That was my involvement.\u00a0 I would be asked to step in to do acting for auditions.\u00a0 One day I would be playing a four year old kid and the next an old lady.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I asked Ellen who she knows in the business and how she met them,<\/p>\n

\u201cI ended up being a fundraiser for different charities.\u00a0 The film centre made me a lifetime member and I would speak at events.\u00a0 I introduced Martin Scorsese for The Last Temptation of Christ.\u00a0 I met Robert De Niro in the lobby and escorted him to his seat and another time I introduced Milo\u0161 Forman\u00a0 I know Norman Jewison, the actor Gordon Pinsent, Liza Minnelli, Beau Bridges and knew Rod Steiger.\u00a0 I picked up Nicholas Cage and Olympia Dukakis from the airport, took them to their hotel and escorted them to and from events. I had dinner with \u00a0Christopher Plummer when he came to town for the first fundraiser for the Film Centre and I recently auditioned for Atom Egoyan through MAX for a movie starring Christopher Plummer.\u00a0 I even once ate a hamburger with Dennis Hopper.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How did you join MAX Agency?<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve only been involved in this with MAX because my granddaughter said I should do this.\u00a0 While I was involved with the island airport dispute I was scouted on the street.\u00a0 The scout stopped me and took pictures of me and I remember I had on a fedora, I had on a hat and I gave her my cell phone number.\u00a0 I got a call from MAX and they signed me up and they sent me to the photographer and to an acting class.\u00a0 I had to wait a while because I fell on my elbow and needed surgery so as soon as I got through that I started the acting lessons and they started putting my name forward.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What acting had you done before joining MAX?<\/p>\n

\u201cI still have a copy of a film Jim Gerrard shot while he was at the Film Centre.\u00a0 For MAX I\u2019ve done a Kevin Drew Video, a video for Revera retirement home, a commercial for Fortnight Lingerie so far. I was also in a feature length indie film and I recently got the lead for a little short film where my character runs off from a seniors home to go on tour with an old musician boyfriend.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ellen has more experience in the business than she leads us to believe and she is very optimistic about her future in the business and how things have been so far,\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve never made a living as an actor, I sort of fell into this and the more the better.\u00a0 I think if I can just get in the door I can get the part.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been really happy with MAX!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
