Trey S – Showcase Saturday!

Welcome back to Showcase Saturday here at Max Agency — a successful model and talent management agency in Canada representing menwomen and children.

This week we will be featuring the hardworking and stylish, Trey S.!

An introduction to Trey:

“My name is Trey and I am 25 years old. I have been modeling for about 5 years now. I am currently represented by Max Agency. My parents are from the island (Caribbean), I am trilingual. I modeled in New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week. I have worked with lots of great designers in the industry.”

How he got into modelling/acting?

“I’ve always wanting to be a model/actor. I love fashion and TV scenery and always dreamed about being a top model. It all started in New York City. I signed with an agency and booked my first job which encouraged and boosted my motivation to be in the industry.”

Why Max Agency?

Max has been in the model management business for a very long time and the agents know the business really well. They are very knowledgeable and their clients trust in them because their models always deliver . So I chose Max, because I know with my talent and eagerness to work I will achieve a lot of goals signing with Max.”

Favourite experience with Max?

“My experience with Max so far as been really great ..I love my new agent Michelle, she is very responsive and very warm welcoming.”

Favourite things to do in spare time?

“I love to do fun stuff … Fashion is life! So I love shopping , watching movies, doing things outdoors and modeling . I love basketball, and have a strong passion for fashion.”

Best advice for someone entering the industry:

“Best advice I can give someone who’s looking to start a career in modeling would be:

1) Be patient

Not everything come easy you have to work very hard to be where you need to be. Modeling may look easy but in reality its really not. You don’t just wake up and be a model, you have to actually be very prepared and willing to learn the industry. And the only way to do that is to have an agency as great as Max to help you and guide you throughout your journey.

2) ON TIME

Be on time for auditions. In this industry, there is no such thing as
being too early! It either youre on time or youre late and if youre late it doesn’t look good on the agency.

3) When you first start be ready to invest in your career journey for comp card and the network .
4) Last but not least, you will get a lot of NO’s.

Don’t be discouraged! Keep doing your best to improve yourself and perfecting your craft then you will get that one YES that will open up a door for you in this industry. Dont take nothing personal.”

#TipTuesday: Don’t Let Rejection Discourage You from Acting

#TipTuesday is a series Max Agency — a successful model and talent management agency in Canada  — will be doing every week where we share helpful tips for the industry! This could be tips on auditions, bookings, and more!

This week’s tip is: Dont let rejection discourage you. Keep persevering and the role you are meant for will come along!

It comes with the territory.

Rejection is inevitable in the acting and modelling industries. Casting Directors sometimes see hundreds of people for the same role so the odds of landing them can be low. However, that does not mean that you should give up acting for good, even if its been a few weeks, months or YEARS since you booked a job!

Now some people may get into acting or modelling for the wrong reasons aka fame and fortune. But if you really are passionate about what youre doing (or trying to do) then why give up so easily?

Try mixing things up!

It doesnt hurt to try new things to bring back your motivation. Maybe thats attending a new acting class or moving to a new city to audition! Having different surroundings and different people to interact with could bring back the inspiration for your craft!

Have a Plan B in case

Theres nothing wrong with having a plan B or C or even D. In fact, that would be a smart thing to do. However, you can still find time for acting along with your back up plan. Auditions normally take around 20 minutes and along with commute time, were taking an hour or two– tops! Managing an acting life and a real life is perfectly normal for most actors, as many Max Agency talent would tell you.

A-List Celebs Can Relate

Some of the most well known names in Hollywood have dealt with so much rejection that they nearly quit acting altogether. In fact, superstar Kristen Stewart is one of them!

According to an interview with ET, Kristen said, “I decided a year after not getting any commercials, F*ck it. I wont make my mom drive around Los Angeles anymore.” If she had quit then, she never would have been casted as Bella Swan in the Twilight Saga and had her career launched from there.

Many other famous actors have stories such as this one including: Bradley Cooper, Claire Danes, Robert Pattinson, and Chris Hemsworth.

#TipTuesday: Always Let Booker Know When Out of Town

#TipTuesday is a series Max Agency — a successful model and talent management agency in Canada representing menwomen and children — will be doing every week where we share helpful tips for the industry! This could be tips on auditions, bookings, and more!

This week’s tip is: Always let your booker know when you are going to be out of town/unavailable!

If you are going out of town or have an engagement and cannot go to auditions (i.e. exams, work, weddings etc.) you must let your Booker know ahead of time. If they are not made aware of these times, they will assume that you are ALWAYS AVAILABLE.

Clients and Casting Directors get very upset if you have been submitted for a job and cannot make the casting. They may become invested in you as the talent, and it can be extremely disappointing to later find out there is no chance of seeing or booking you.

Letting clients or casting directors down like this enough times can ruin relationships between them and the agency. Most agencies will not put up with this and may end up releasing you. This is why you must always let them know if you are unavailable.
