This week we will be featuring the multi-talented, Jasmine L!
An introduction to Jasmine:
“I’m from St. Catharines Ontario Canada. I went to a musical high school called Laura Secord Secondary School. I’ve played elite sports all my life. My first year of university was in Baltimore Maryland at Coppin State University on a full ride volleyball scholarship in Division 1 of NCAA. I also did pole vault and hurdles in
the states at the D1 level. I returned home last year to play on the best collegiate team in Ontario at Humber college!”
“This year I am taking the year off to focus on my music and acting career! I’ve sang in Toronto jazz clubs such as the Rex! However; lately I’ve been singing more pop/rnb music because that is where my heart is at!”
Why she chose to pursue modelling/acting:
“I got into modelling and acting when I was about 6 years old. My mom had me entered in many talent and modelling competitions and as a result of that I was scouted to an acting agency. Since I chose to become an elite athlete I didn’t have the time to get back into it. This year my life has taken a turn for the better and I’ve decided to pursue my true passion and join an agency because life is too short
to not be doing what you love!”
Her experience with MAX so far:
“I haven’t been with Max for a while and I just started going to auditions. However; Max has been very supportive and everyone there seems like one big happy family that I’m blessed to be a part of!”
Favourite things to do in spare time:
“In my spare time I play guitar, piano, drum kit, dance. I love to sing and draw. I play volleyball and also basketball. I love to workout. I enjoy going to open mic nights around Toronto and singing my heart out for anyone who will listen!”
Advice for those in the industry:
“My advice for anyone pursuing their passion in the music or acting industry is that you need to be 100% authentic. Be yourself. Now a days people are looking for a unique sound or look and there is nothing more unique then someone being their own authentic self.”
Some other interesting facts about Jasmine:
“I was captain choreography of my high schools competitive award winning hip hop dance team for 3 years in a row! I also spend a lot of my time supporting the lgbtq community! Alongside, supporting the movement towards providing more assistance and tools for those who suffer from mental health issues.”
