Toronto Talent Agency – Toronto Acting Agency – Tip Tuesday – Toronto Modeling Agency – Summer Hygiene Tips

Shower Regularly

Shower at least twice a day, especially if you have been spending time outdoors. Sweating releases toxins and can cause bad body odor. Choose a shower gel or soap with a fresh scent such as citrus, mint, or cucumber to keep you feeling and smelling fresh.

Wash Your Hair Every Other Day

Your scalp needs more help during the summer as perspiration and air pollutant can make it sweaty, sticky, and itchy. Wash your hair every other day to keep your scalp clean and your hair damage-free.

Use an Intimate Wash

An intimate wash is especially important for women to prevent infections, bad odor, and irritation. Using one in your daily shower routine will help you to stay fresh throughout the day.

Sunscreen

Sun rays can have harmful effects. Whenever you plan to spend time outdoors, apply sun protection to prevent skin damage from the UV rays.

Avoid Smelly Feet

Sweat is unavoidable in hot weather. Smelly feet are unfortunately a common result. Keep your feet clean by scrubbing and soaking them regularly. A foot soak is easy to prepare at home with warm water, Epsom salt, and essential oils such as tea tree oil. Make sure you are wearing fresh socks.

Find a Good Deodorant

A good deodorant can make a big difference to stop body odor. While sweating is normal and healthy, A deodorant will prevent odor.

Stay Safe While Visiting Public Washrooms

Increasing your water intake is crucial in hot weather. Your visits to the washroom will naturally increase too. Keep a toilet seat sanitizer with you to safely use public washrooms and avoid infections.

Prevent Bad Breath

Brush at least twice a day, use a mouth wash, and floss daily. Switch to a citrus or mint flavored toothpaste to get that fresh feeling.

Use Powder

There are many talc powders on the market as well as non-talc options if you prefer. They can help you feel dry and cool.

Remove Unwanted Hair

Excess body hair can make you feel sticky and can hold on to sweat which then causes odor. Remove or reduce unwanted hair regularly to keep yourself hygienic and clean.

Toronto Acting Agency – Toronto Talent Agency – Tip Tuesday – Screen Acting Tips

If you are used to acting in theatre, it may take a few adjustments when switching to screen acting.  Acting in front of a camera requires its own set of skills which is usually developed over time and with experience. However, the following tips will help you to get on the right path.

Toronto acting agency – Toronto talent agency – Tip Tuesday – Screen acting tips

1. Show Expression Through Your Eyes

The camera captures every detail and your eyes convey your thoughts, your feelings, your internal struggles, and your physical impulses. The closer the frame, the stronger the focus.

2. Think of Silences as Lines

Film/TV will include reaction shots. Show your characters reaction in every moment including during another characters lines and silences. The editor will be looking for reaction shots post-production, so this will increase your screen time!

3. Understand the Audience

As opposed to theatre, your audience is not present while you are performing. Remember that you still have an audience, and it is not the film crew that is around you. Perform for your audience, not the crew.

4. Be Flexible

Schedule changes happen all the time with weather conditions, technical difficulties, transport issues, and the list go on. Be prepared for it, especially for your character. Do not be one of the reasons for the schedule to be late. Be prepared to get it right in the first few takes, and be flexible to the directors wants.

5. Learn the Language of the Set

Be aware of who does what on the set and learn the jargon that they use. This will make you easier to work with as you will not have to ask around all the time. It is respectful of everyones role on set.

Toronto Talent Agency – Toronto Acting Agency -Talent Spotlight – Adam R.

This weeks Talent Spotlight is MAX Toronto talent, Adam R.

Toronto Talent Agency – Toronto Acting Agency – Adam R.
Adam got involved with entertainment since his first school play in Grade 3. He was the lead, and his aunt was the only one who was able to see it. Her rave review of his performance solidified his aspirations to become an actor.

He went through the Second City Conservatory Program in 2004, then performed stand-up comedy and sketch comedy around the GTA with his old troupe Clambake. He even hosted his own stand-up series on GogecoTV23 in Burlington for one season.

I really started to focus on my acting career in 2015, starting off volunteering in film school projects and an episode of Paranormal Survivor, eventually getting my first commercial for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese after my first audition. My friend saw it play in a movie theatre in LA. If you’ve ever seen the commercial where the dad jumps into a bounce castle and it deflates on him? That’s me! I dislocated my shoulder on the first attempt and didn’t tell anybody. Popped it back in myself. I am a professional! 😉

Since then, Adam has been in commercials for Reese’s, American Express, and Labatt, corporate videos for Home Depot and CNN, and voice work for CBC Kids and Nickelbrook Brewery.

A few years ago, Adam returned to school at 39 years old, and last year graduated from Sheridan College with a diploma in Visual and Creative Arts.

I have always been interested in animation, and have been learning to create my own cartoons online. I hope to one day be a consistently working actor. If I can make a sustaining career out of doing what I love, I would be thrilled. Being on set, working things out, and making the crew laugh is home to me.

In my spare time I love to cook! I cure and smoke my own bacon, brine entire chickens with exciting and experimental recipes, and make a pulled pork so coveted by my family they get mad when I don’t give them any!
