Welcome back to Showcase Saturday here at Max Agency — a successful Toronto talent agency representing men, women and children.
This week we will be featuring a lovely set of twins: Taquana & Javielle!
An introduction to the girls:
Javielle: I am Javielle and she is Taquana, we are 15 years old. We were born in Jamaica. We moved to Canada 2 years ago, we currently are in grade 10.
Taquana: Totally different weather from Jamaica, but we are adjusting
Why did you want to get into modelling/acting?
Javielle: Our mom told us that before we were born she used to model and ever since then we wanted to follow in her footsteps.
Taquana: Yea what she said. And I like the spotlight, perks and the exposure that comes with it. It seems fun!
How has your experience been with Max so far?
Taquana: I did an audition sometime in the summer and it was a really good experience. I was really nervous for it though but overall it was a good experience. We also did the teen acting classes and those also boosted our confidence and gave us an insight of the business. Much to say, we are totally excited!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Javielle: We really like dancing like a lot. We also run track, swim, sing (even though we aren’t good).
Taquana: We also like to volunteer.
What is it like being twins?
Javielle: Its been a really good experience, well the only experience, since I don’t know what its like not being twins. I really enjoy having someone to talk to and laugh with all the time, we have so many unspoken moments where we know what is being said!
Taquana: Sometimes, for a split second, its kinda weird looking at someone who looks just just like you. I remember one day, we were in the dance studio at school and I looked in the mirror and saw Javielle sitting down and I had to do a double take! At that moment I couldnt understand how I looking at myself and I was also seeing myself sitting down!
What is your dream role?
Javielle: I would really like to dance in a music video for a big artist and do commercials.
Taquana: I would really like to star in a movie, walk on the runway and do commercials.
What advice would you give someone entering the industry?
Javielle: The best advice I could give to someone is to read their contracts. Read the fine print, ask questions about some of the things in the contract. Make sure you understand what you are signing.
Taquana: I would say just to be confident in yourself and remember that a tiger can’t change their stripes so you shouldn’t change yourself. You can change your mindset, but never who you are.
