The Do’s and Don’ts of Eyebrows

For this weeks Tip Tuesday, MAX Agency compiled a list of the most common and important DOS and DONTS when it comes to your eyebrows!

DO
Match Brow Colour to Hair Roots

This is the best way to achieve the most natural looking brow.

Use a Fibre Brow Gel 

Use a brow gel to keep the stray hairs in place throughout your day. It can help to fill in gaps while still looking natural.

Visit a Professional

While you may not have the time or money to visit a professional frequently, at least visiting once a while doesnt hurt. Let them get the shape right for you so all you need to worry about is the upkeep.

Use Concealer to Highlight

Using concealer and a highlight under your brow bone will clean up any mistakes you made along with helping to define your arches.

Take a Step Back

Taking a step back allows you to see the bigger picture and check that your eyebrows are even.

DONT
Go Without Product

While a natural look is great, there are steps to take and products to use to achieve the best natural look.

Bleach Your Brows

This will take away all definition from your brows and wash you out.

Dont Over Pluck

Only pluck one hair at a time to achieve this. Plucking even one hair too many can change the look youre going for. 

Try To Change Your Natural Shape

Your natural shape typically is the best fit for your face so make sure youre embracing it and not trying to create a different one.

Tip Tuesday: Why Social Media is Important for Actors/Models

“Social media is so important,” says Backstage Expert and casting director Benton Whitley. “When an actor comes across my plate, and I’ve never heard of them, the first thing I do is Google them, for sure.”

To follow industry related news

As an aspiring actor and/or model, you should be following other successful professionals in the industry to find inspiration and see how these people are finding success. You should be aware of any movements that are happening (ex. #MeToo) and which films/television shows are the most successful. The easiest and quickest way to see this information is online. You do not want to be out of the loop on anything.

To connect with peers and professionals in industry

A lot of networking happens online now and social media makes it so easy. Follow your peers, comment on posts, share posts from people you find interesting. Make yourself visible to others online. This may lead to an important contact such as a casting director noticing you or simply growing your following.

Its an extension of your portfolio

Sometimes an actor or models portfolios or demos simply cannot showcase all of your talents. Utilize your social media channels by uploading additional photos or videos that showcase your talent. Promote yourself and brand yourself whenever possible. If a casting director looks you up, they will see more of your work and hopefully be impressed.

Building a following and gaining influence

By creating content that others want to see, you will gain a following and begin having influence over that following. This is how “social media influencers” make their living. Casting agents like to work with people with large followings because that means you will be able to promote the film/show/etc. to your followers. This business is all about numbers, and if you have them you are potentially one step closer to landing the role!
