This week we’ll be showcasing a uniquely talented member of our roster Evangeline R!

Background Information

My name is Evangeline Roy I am currently 22 yrs old.  I started out in a small city named Welland, a 20 min drive from Niagara Falls.

I come from a family of 5; an older sister (10 months apart from me) and a younger brother (2 years younger than me). My background is a mix of French, Dutch, Irish and Native American. I am fully bilingual in both French and English languages. Growing up my parents would sign my siblings and I up for basically anything they could find that would get us out of the house. Some of these activities include: Basketball, Volleyball, Ball-Hockey, Girl Guides, Figure Skating, The Chess Club, Sunday school (Catholic) and Volunteering for the city.

I’ve had a total of 23 jobs ranging from newspaper delivery, manager of a hockey canteen, hostess, barista, winery tour guide, pharmacist assistant, bottle shop worker and stewardess.

How did you get into modelling/acting?

To be completely honest I didn’t think acting or modelling would ever be in the stars for me until recent years. Big girls are finally in. I’ve been a bigger girl all my life and I used to get teased about it. As a chubby kid back in the early 2000s there really was no such thing as bigger kids sized clothing or shoes for that matter. I remember having to shop at Walmart in the adult section of the clothing because I was too big for kids’ clothes, and shopping for shoes wasn’t easy either I had big feet as well. Just a few years ago it’s hard to believe but size 9 women’s shoes were not really in stock and very hard to find so Id either end up with hammy downs from relatives or ending up having to settle for a pair of men’s shoes. I believe it’s about time all body shapes and sizes are now represented equally as beautiful. I want to be the role model for little girls so that they can see themselves in someone older and know that they are represented in society as equal. Furthermore I am pretty confident in my looks and I’m a typical girl in saying, that if I was to pass any reflective surface it is a certain guarantee that I will be checking myself out.

How has your experience been with MAX Agency?

Max has been amazing. As you’ve probably figured out, this is my first time joining the industry.

I was nervous at first because I don’t know many people in the industry, so I spent quite a bit of time googling agencies and that’s when I came across MAX Agency. One day it just popped up as an add on my Facebook page, and here I am. MAX had me signed up with acting classes which were so much fun! All the staff have helped me every step of the way up until the present day. To elaborate on your question I am currently beginning to audition as we speak.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies, passions,
etc.

Spare time? What’s that…?

I love having a full schedule the more things to do the better. Im a millennial so “YOLO”. I can’t stand wasted time, I love filling in my spare time with sports, socializing with friends, wine tastings, hiking, camping, drive-inns, learning centers like museums and trying new things. I have yet to learn how to surf and take a ride on a hot air balloon. 

What is your dream role?

My dream role would be acting in a movie about my life, lots of action, stunts and it better be a musical. That would be amazing!!!

There is never a dull moment in my life and at the end of the day I wouldn’t want to be anyone else but me.

Best advice for someone looking to get into the industry? or best advice youve received?

My parents always told me growing up: “Pull up your socks and do better next time”.

This taught me to never give up. The only thing standing in your way is you. If you really want something… Go for it! Because if you don’t, you will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

My advice… you have to learn to laugh at yourself, love and appreciate who you are before you expect anyone else to. This is the recipe to success in life.
